Description

A $9.7-million-dollar funding boost is going into protecting national parks from wild goats and deer over four years.

It's funded through the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy, and will target populations in North and South Island conservation areas and national parks.

Conservation Minister Tama Potaka says this will strengthen monitoring and control efforts, and reduce the risk of animals resurging.

The Country's Hamish McKay explained what this development means for New Zealand's farming communities - and hunters.
