Chad argues that he was also given another job—one Cambridge never put in his contract.

Rather than joining the argument over whether Arday's downfall proves DEI is corrupt or whether his treatment proves the media is racist, Chad follows the institutions that surrounded him: Cambridge, Harvard, academia, publishing, and the British press.
Why were extraordinary biographical claims repeated for years without basic verification? What happened when academics raised plagiarism concerns with Cambridge? Why did the institution defend Arday before eventually investigating his qualifications? And why did his appointment receive radically different treatment from that of another Cambridge professor later found guilty of plagiarism?
Chad also tells a personal story about being offered LGBTQ-targeted business funding—and the moment he realized the people across the table were more interested in his identity and story than the company he was actually building.
The episode ultimately reaches a larger argument about DEI itself:
A policy can fail. A doctrine cannot.
If evidence against a policy causes us to change the method while preserving the mission, the system can correct itself.
If every negative result is instead explained away, renamed, ignored, or blamed on the people questioning the program, we're no longer measuring policy.
We're defending belief.
