Someday Never Comes

Season 2 Episode 396 Published 1 month, 1 week ago
Description

Someday never comes.

We know that intellectually. But it doesn’t always stop us from putting off the things we want to do or the experiences we want to have.

Someday I’ll take that trip.

Someday I’ll start writing.

Someday I’ll learn how to do that.

Someday I’ll call that person, start that project, take better care of myself, or finally make time for the thing I keep saying matters to me.

The problem with “someday” is that it feels like a plan, but it isn’t. It has no date, no first step, and no place on the calendar.

And we can wait a very long time for the perfect combination of time, money, energy, courage, and certainty. Most of the time, that perfect moment never arrives. Ready isn't a feeling, it's a decision.

So, what’s on your someday list?

You don’t have to make the entire dream happen today. You simply need to make it a little more real.

Research the destination. Set aside ten dollars. Sign up for the class. Write the first paragraph. Send the message. Put a date on the calendar. Tell someone what you intend to do.

Hope isn’t just believing that something good could happen. Often, hope is taking the first small action that allows it to happen.

There may be valid reasons why you can’t do everything right now. But do you truly have to wait or has “someday” become a comfortable place to hide?

Choose one thing from your someday list and take one step toward it because today is here and someday will never be.
