Story Transcript:

Sl: Na robu blejskega jezera je bilo vse polno življenja.
En: At the edge of blejsko jezero, there was abundant life.

En: The sun shone on the surface, which sparkled like an emerald.

En: Matej, a young man who loved nature, came with his friend Sabina to see this Slovenian marvel.

En: He also wanted to climb to the castle that rose high on the cliff.

Sl: Sabina je bila iz drugega kraja.
En: Sabina was from another place.

En: She visited Matej, and together they decided that summer was the best time to visit Blejsko jezero.

Sl: Medtem ko sta hodila po poti okoli jezera, sta občudovala vse lepote: majhen otoček s cerkvico sredi vode in labode, ki so počasi drseli mimo.
En: As they walked along the path around the lake, they admired all the beauties: a small island with a church in the middle of the water and the swans gliding slowly by.

Sl: Matej je bil neroden.
En: Matej was clumsy.

Sl: Misli so mu povsem zaposlovale tiste lesene stopnice, ki so peljale proti gradu.
En: His thoughts were completely occupied by those wooden stairs leading up to the castle.

En: Suddenly, he stepped on uneven ground and fell.

Sl: Zagrabil ga je val bolečine.
En: A wave of pain hit him.

En: With a twisted ankle, he collapsed onto a nearby stone.

Sl: Sabina je hitro pokleknila k njemu.
En: Sabina quickly knelt beside him.

Sl: "Matej, si v redu?"
En: "Matej, are you okay?"

En: "Ah, I think I've twisted my ankle," he gritted through his teeth.

En: Sabina looked toward the castle, then at Matej.

Sl: "Morava poiskati pomoč."
En: "We need to get help."

En: Just then, Tina appeared.

En: A local who worked in a nearby café.

Sl: Poznala je vse steze in poti okoli jezera.
En: She knew all the trails and paths around the lake.

En: When she saw that Matej was in trouble, she quickly came to his aid.

Sl: "Počakaj, imam prvo pomoč," je rekla Tina.
En: "Wait, I have first aid," said Tina.

Sl: Previdno je obvezala Matejev gleženj in mu pomagala vstati.
En: She carefully bandaged Matej's ankle and helped him stand up.

Sl: "Najbolje bo, da si spočiješ.
En: "It's best you rest.

Sl: Pojdite z mano, sedel boš in užival ob pogledu na jezero."
En: Come with me, and you'll sit and enjoy the view of the lake."

Sl: Matej ni bil prepričan.
En: Matej was unsure.

Sl: A ko je videl, kako prijazna je Tina, je sledil njenemu nasvetu.
En: But seeing how kind Tina was, he followed her advice.
