Episode 306: Good behaviour cannot depend on which teacher happens to be standing at the front of the room.
In the final episode of the mini-series, Kieran is joined by Elliot Heade and Jack Pattison from St Peter’s Primary School in Cardiff. Together, they unpack five principles that have helped create calm, purposeful classrooms across the school.
Elliot and Jack explain how routines are modelled and rehearsed, how corrections can remain calm and respectful, and why warmth and strictness are not opposites. They also discuss the professional learning, coaching and shared language needed to make strong behaviour for learning extend beyond individual classrooms.
This episode shows what becomes possible when expectations are predictable, adults act consistently and every pupil is expected to participate. Good behaviour becomes more than the work of exceptional teachers. It becomes normal.
