In the next episode of our Family Tragedy Series, we examine the extraordinary survival story of Wang Nan, also known as Wang Nuannuan, a pregnant Chinese businesswoman whose husband, Yu Xiaodong, pushed her from a 34-metre cliff at Thailand's Pha Taem National Park on June 9, 2019. Wang survived the 110-foot fall with 17 fractures, but later lost her unborn child. Thai courts ultimately found that Yu deliberately tried to kill his wife amid gambling debts and financial motives, sentencing him to 33 years and four months in prison.
But Wang's story didn't end on that cliff. After years of surgeries and rehabilitation, she rebuilt her life, became a mother through IVF in 2024 and, after a six-year legal struggle, finally obtained a divorce from Yu in October 2025.
