In November 1971, accountant and Sunday school teacher John List murdered his wife Helen, mother Alma, and three children inside their 19-room Westfield, New Jersey mansion, Breeze Knoll. He left behind a five-page letter claiming financial ruin and fears for his family's souls drove his decision, then vanished before the bodies were discovered nearly a month later.

For almost 18 years, List lived under the name Robert Peter Clark, rebuilding his life as an accountant, churchgoer and eventually husband to another woman. His disappearance ended after America's Most Wanted aired his case in May 1989 using forensic artist Frank Bender's remarkably accurate age-progressed sculpture. A viewer's tip led investigators to Virginia, where fingerprints finally exposed Bob Clark as John List.
