Episode Details

South Carolina football enters its second and FINAL scrimmage of fall camp with major questions still to answer before the 2026 season begins.

On today’s episode of Locked On Gamecocks, Chris Marler previews a massive Saturday scrimmage for Shane Beamer and South Carolina as the Gamecocks continue sorting through position battles, injuries and a rapidly changing depth chart.

After losing Jayden Gibson and Jayden Sellers for the season, the spotlight shifts to South Carolina’s wide receiver room. Nyck Harbor and DJ Black appear positioned for major roles, but who becomes the next man up? Chris breaks down why Mazeo Bennett, SeQoya Patterson, Lex Cyrus and Nitro Tuggle have an opportunity to establish themselves before Week 1.

The offensive line is another major storyline with Jacarrius Peak expected to miss the season opener. Could Shed Sarratt, Seth Smith or Darius Gray become the answer at tackle? And what combinations could South Carolina experiment with before Peak returns?

Defensively, the Gamecocks suddenly have an intriguing battle at EDGE while Dylan Stewart works his way back. Caleb Herring, Julian Walker and Anthony Addison are among the names to watch as South Carolina tries to take advantage of what Shane Beamer believes could be one of his deepest defensive fronts.

Plus, one of the most fascinating battles on the entire roster continues at safety. Freshman J’Zavien Currence has generated plenty of hype, but David Bucey isn't giving up the job without a fight. How can South Carolina get its best defensive backs on the field?

Finally, Chris gives his three players on the clock entering Saturday’s final scrimmage:

🏈 The kickers — Somebody has to finally take control of the job.
🏈 Isaiah Augustave — Can he force his way into a bigger role alongside Matthew Fuller and Christian Clark?
🏈 Seth Smith — With Peak sidelined, this could be his opportunity to prove he can handle SEC-level snaps at tackle.

Saturday represents the closest thing South Carolina has left to a real game before Kent State comes to Williams-Brice Stadium. Who takes advantage?
