Text the show!

Boomers ruined housing. Boomers hoarded the wealth. Boomers pulled up the ladder.

At least, that’s the story.

But there’s a problem: the charges contradict each other.

In this Thursday Special, Chad takes on America’s increasingly fashionable Boomer Bashing and asks the question almost nobody seems interested in answering:

What exactly were they supposed to do differently?

Sell the house? They cashed out.

Stay? They’re hoarding.

Leave it to their children? They created generational inequality.

That leads to a new Common Sense tool: The Innocent Move Test—a simple way to distinguish a legitimate accusation from blame looking for a target.

Along the way, Chad digs into housing supply, home appreciation versus actual spendable wealth, inheritance, tax incentives, environmental review, the generational wealth argument, and why older homeowners can be simultaneously wealthy on paper and economically trapped.

But the episode ultimately lands somewhere more personal.

Boomers may have over-corrected—but perhaps their greatest mistake was succeeding too well at something their children rarely noticed: making struggle look like ease.

As Chad puts it:

“The ease was the gift. It was the most expensive thing they ever bought us. And we entered it into evidence against them.”

The answer to bad policy isn’t generational resentment.

Name the line item. Fix the law.
