Episode Details

Rodri is heading to Barcelona, but did Real Madrid actually make a mistake by letting him go? Dom returns to The Real Deal to break down the transfer from the Barcelona side, while Sid explains why his initial fury over Madrid missing out has cooled after looking at the full financial commitment. We discuss Rodri’s reported wages and transfer fee, why Barcelona wanted him despite their midfield talent, his fit under Hansi Flick, the concerns surrounding his back and workload, and what he gives Pedri tactically. Then we turn back to Madrid: how badly did they really need Rodri, was he ever serious about joining, and can Bernardo Silva give Madrid enough of what they were missing at a much lower total cost? A Real Madrid and Barcelona fan trying to make sense of one of the biggest moves of the summer.
