Episode Details

The segment opens with host Charlie James reporting the death of ZZ Top drummer Frank Beard, who passed away in hospice care at age 77, and shares a tribute from bandmate Billy Gibbons. Transitioning to local politics, Charlie speaks with a caller named Roger from Taylors about the upcoming South Carolina elections. They discuss low expected voter turnout, estimated between 6% and 11%, and emphasize the power of WRD’s listening audience to influence the race if more conservative voters turn out. Charlie questions the endorsements surrounding candidate Darlene Graham Nardone, comparing candidate scrutiny to past comments made by Lindsey Graham regarding Donald Trump. Throughout the segment, Charlie answers listener questions regarding voter eligibility, confirming that individuals who missed the primary or initial runoff are still eligible to vote, while critically reflecting on the political establishment represented at the recent Silver Elephant banquet in Columbia.
