AI alliances harden globally - The U.S. is reportedly preparing to push allies toward a U.S.-led AI framework or a Chinese-aligned alternative, making AI supply chains, semiconductors, and critical minerals a geopolitical choice.

Nvidia funds data center surge - Nvidia’s new partnerships with Apollo, BlackRock, Blackstone, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs, and KKR aim to mobilize more than $500 billion for AI data center infrastructure, turning compute and power capacity into a major institutional asset class.

Faster models, tighter safety brakes - OpenAI introduced an Ultrafast Mode for GPT-5.6 Sol with much lower latency, while Anthropic warned that model progress may be outpacing safety evaluations and Z.ai delayed GLM-5.3 weights after strong cyber benchmark claims.

Patch now: major exploits active - Microsoft’s latest Patch Tuesday fixed hundreds of flaws including an exploited Windows zero-day, while Cisco, Zoom, and SAP also released urgent security updates tied to high-risk vulnerabilities and active attacks.

Identity, SaaS, and browser breaches - Belgium’s eID trust chain was undermined by browser-extension flaws, RingCentral reportedly suffered a 1.6 million-user breach, and hundreds of malicious Chrome VPN extensions were found intercepting traffic through attacker-controlled proxies.

Electric aviation clears milestone - Heart Aerospace completed the maiden flight of its battery-powered X1 demonstrator, a notable step for electric aviation even as range, weight, and commercial deployment remain major hurdles.

AI alliances harden globally
We begin with two connected AI developments that show how quickly this industry is becoming both infrastructure and foreign policy. In a new development, Nvidia says it is working with some of the world’s biggest asset managers to help mobilize more than half a trillion dollars for AI data center projects worldwide. Nvidia may also back part of each deal to reduce investor risk. The bigger story here is that AI compute is being treated less like regular tech spending and more like a long-term asset class alongside energy and transport.

Nvidia funds data center surge
At the same time, reports say Washington is preparing to formally tell allies and partner nations that they may need to choose between a U.S.-led AI ecosystem and a Chinese-aligned one. If that happens, access to leading chips, frontier models, and key materials could become part of a much broader strategic alignment. In plain terms, the AI stack is starting to look a lot like an alliance system.

Faster models, tighter safety brakes
On the model side, the speed race is picking up. OpenAI has rolled out an Ultrafast Mode for GPT-5.6 Sol using Cerebras hardware, with a major jump in inference speed aime
