American Airlines is inviting AAdvantage members to put unused miles toward causes that support the military community, tying the effort to National Purple Heart Day, observed each year on August 7 to honor service members wounded or killed in combat. Through the airline's Miles for Heroes program, members can donate miles to three organizations: the Gary Sinise Foundation, the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, and the Medal of Honor Foundation.
