SUNDAY - AUGUST 16, 2026 “At A Loss” Acts 25:13-26

Published 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Description

You can be surrounded by people and still have no idea what to say or do. That “at a loss” feeling shows up at hospital bedsides, in heavy seasons at home, and even in the middle of a public courtroom where everyone expects you to have answers.

We pick up in Acts 25:13-27 as Festus tries to deal with Paul, who has appealed to Caesar. The problem is almost embarrassing: Festus cannot find a real charge to send with him. What he hears from the accusers is not a clean legal case but a religious collision centered on “a certain Jesus” who was dead, yet Paul insists is alive. So Festus turns to King Agrippa and Bernice, hoping a Jewish voice can help him make sense of the resurrection and put something coherent on paper.

From there, we zoom out and get honest about why the gospel still disorients people. The Jewish leaders want Paul dead because he proclaims Jesus as Messiah, and Festus cannot fit resurrection hope into Roman categories. Paul’s own words in 1 Corinthians 1:18-25 explain the tension: the cross sounds like folly to a world chasing wisdom and signs, yet Christ crucified is the power of God and the wisdom of God. We also talk about how God’s strength carries both salvation and sanctification, especially when life is chaotic and you are running on empty.

If you are overwhelmed, burdened by guilt, or unsure how to move forward, this message keeps it simple: proclaim Christ crucified to yourself and trust the risen Jesus. Subscribe, share this with a friend who feels stuck, and leave a review so more people can find the hope you are hearing here.
