In this episode of Talking O&G: a RANZCOG Podcast, host A/Prof Roshan Zeirideen Zaid speaks to Dr Naomi Holbeach about the ethics of use of novel technology and surgical innovation in obstetric and gynaecological practice.
Dr Holbeach is an obstetrician and gynaecologist who holds a law degree and a PhD in bioethics. A/Prof Zeirideen Zaid and Dr Holbeach examine the legal, professional, and moral obligations held by medical practitioners, and how to align these with clinical decision making in the use of innovative technology, techniques, or devices.
Dr Holbeach shares advice for clinicians wishing to engage in novel technology and surgical innovation to continue to improve care and provide more options for their patients. She highlights the importance of instilling informed consent and collaboration into all stages of the innovation process.
