We all wonder and often fear what the future holds: aging, disappointments, pain, and the shadow of death seem to loom large, while the world around us appears to unravel. Yet Scripture offers a far greater certainty than our anxious guesses. Paul declares in Romans 8:28 that “all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Even when we cannot know what tomorrow will bring, we know Who is bringing it the sovereign Lord who rules over heaven and earth, and who cannot be stopped or questioned (Dan. 4:35). The God who already gave His only Son for our redemption on the cross will surely care for us in every trial. As Peter, who endured far more suffering than most of us, urged: “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you” (1 Pet. 5:7).
