It Is Time to Take Responsibility Again When Nehemiah arrived in Jerusalem, he found a city with a glorious past but a disgraceful present. The walls were broken down. The gates had been burned. The people had learned to live among the ruins. They could tell stories about what Jerusalem had once been, but they had become accustomed to what Jerusalem had now become. The ruins were not new.
