Description
Seven-year-old Athena Strand disappeared from her family's home near Paradise, Texas, on November 30, 2022, shortly after a FedEx contractor delivered a package containing Barbie dolls intended as her Christmas present. Investigators traced the delivery to Tanner Horner, whose FedEx truck cameras captured crucial evidence showing Athena alive before she was abducted. Two days later, investigators recovered her body near the Trinity River. Her autopsy determined that she died from blunt-force injuries with smothering and strangulation.
In April 2026, Horner pleaded guilty to capital murder and aggravated kidnapping.
