Description

When George Floyd was murdered in 2020, Erwin Hines paused and realized the urgent need for Black liberation resources — so he launched Future Is Color, selling t-shirts with powerful messages that sold 5,000 units fast. He quit his job to focus full-time on building a brand rooted in his own healing journey and the long history of Black resistance. Inspired by his family’s entrepreneurial spirit and community-building ethos, Future Is Color has evolved into a movement hosting events like “If You See Me You See Me” and “The Listening Room,” where music, vulnerability, and deep listening come together. Hosted by Aladrian Goods, “The Listening Room” uses vinyl records to spark intimate conversations, modeled after his grandparents’ love of music — and ends each session with his grandmother’s gentle reminder: “Thanks for your time. That’s all of my time.”
