CEO For a Day: How We Would Save Xbox, EA, Ubisoft & Bethesda

Season 1 Episode 66 Published 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Description

The video game industry is in an absolute state of emergency right now. With 2026 on track to see over 14,000 industry layoffs and more massive studio closures announced every single week, the Game Clique had to step into the boardroom to get some answers.

This week, we are firing the shareholders and taking over. We decided to play "CEO for a Day," taking control of some of the biggest developers and publishers in the gaming industry to see if we could make the tough calls to actually stop the bleeding.

We break out our survival plans for industry titans like Xbox, Electronic Arts (EA), and Ubisoft, discussing how we would restructure their pipelines to keep the lights on and the talent in-house. We also deep-dive into beloved studios like Bethesda and Rare, analyzing what went wrong, how they lost their way, and which IPs we would greenlight to bring them back to their glory days without resorting to mass layoffs.

It is time to hold the executives accountable. From bloated AAA budgets to chasing impossible live-service trends, we are breaking down the business of video games through the lens of Black industry experts who are tired of seeing incredible developers lose their livelihoods.

If you were handed the keys to your favorite video game studio tomorrow, what is the very first decision you would make to save the company? Drop a comment below and let us know! 👇🏾
