Volunteers are needed to help low to moderate-income families and individuals prepare their taxes. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is sponsored by the IRS and provides free tax return preparation services through a large network of short-term volunteers. Volunteers are not required to have prior tax preparation experience; training will be provided. There is a large variety of volunteer opportunities within the VITA program, including: Tax Preparer – Prepares basic or advanced 1040 tax returns and related schedules for eligible taxpayers. Interviews taxpayers to determine if all income, deductions, and allowable credits are claimed. Greeter/Screener – Greets taxpayers...
