Connecting People With Disabilities to Opportunity
Description
In this episode of the Kanawha Valley Hustlers podcast, I talk with Travis Kline of Job Squad about connecting people with disabilities to services, jobs, transportation, benefits, and support. The disability services fair brings 25 organizations together so people can learn what help is available after school services end.
Travis explains that transportation remains one of the barriers people face when trying to work or make medical appointments. We also talk about Job Squad’s mission to help people with disabilities find employment and training. Their teams process mail for the State of West Virginia and fulfill online orders for West Virginia State Parks.
We shift into business lessons, where Travis shares the value of marketing, listening, and fixing processes instead of blaming people. He believes leaders need to trust themselves while hiring people who bring compassion, understanding, and customer service to the job. For Travis, skills can be taught, but some qualities have to come with the person.
Our conversation shows how Job Squad creates opportunities while solving problems that affect people across our community.
