In this episode of The Daily Derech, Rabbi Marcus Rubenstein explores Parashat Shoftim, Hilchot Tefillah, and a teaching about experiencing God’s creation and mysteries.

The Parashah section examines the king’s obligation to maintain two Torah scrolls, including one that travels with him, reminding him that Torah—not the king—is the ultimate authority. It also discusses the Levites’ dependence on the Jewish people for their livelihood.

The Rambam section explains ideal practices for prayer, including praying in a humble, fixed place, facing Jerusalem, avoiding distractions, and giving others personal space during the Amidah. These practices are encouraged but do not invalidate prayer when omitted.

The final teaching explores how later prophets reveal aspects of creation that Genesis does not explain. It emphasizes that experiencing nature, seeking God’s grace, and developing a relationship with God allow us to encounter these deeper mysteries.
