Released in 1999 to spoof sci-fi fandom culture and Star Trek, the film is a cult classic amongst the Star Trek fan community, even voted as one of the best Star Trek movies, even though it is not a Star Trek movie. It starred actors who were known or were known and went on to do better things for themselves.
