Back to EpisodesSEC Coach to ESPN: Kiffin Gets Too Much Credit for Chambliss
Description
An anonymous SEC coach told ESPN's Adam Rittenberg this week that Lane Kiffin "probably gets too much credit for Trinidad" — a rival coach saying on background what Ole Miss fans have been saying out loud all summer.
In the same piece, an SEC defensive coordinator said Chambliss's arm strength and arm talent were visible coming out of Division II Ferris State, and called his ability to make plays with his feet when things break down "exceptional."
CHAPTERS
0:00 — Take One: "Lane probably gets too much credit"
2:32 — Take Two: ninth to sixteenth, same excuse
4:34 — The question — what's your number?
Take Two: five national rankings in ten days put Ole Miss in five different spots — On3 No. 9, the Coaches Poll No. 10, Greg McElroy No. 11, CBS Sports No. 12, Joel Klatt No. 16. Seven spots on one roster. And the stated reason keeps being the same man.
The honest counterweight cuts both ways. Somebody had to go find Chambliss and play him, and Kiffin did both — anonymous quotes are the cheapest currency in this sport. And Klatt isn't throwing darts: he praised Chambliss by name, called the playoff leadership tremendous, and noted Ole Miss had the No. 2 transfer portal class. The schedule half of his argument is simply true.
So what's your number — 9, 16, or something exact in between? Comment it and tell me why.
