Celebrating the 30th anniversary of Star Trek: First Contact.
Following the release of Star Trek Generations and how much of a success it was, Paramount told Rick Berman to prepare the next film starring the cast of The Next Generation. Ronald D. Moore and Brannon Braga wanted to bring back the Borg, and Berman wanted a time travel story. They decided to combine the two - and different time periods were bandied about before settling upon the not-too-distant future. Released November 22, 1996 for the 30th anniversary of Star Trek, First Contact is generally considered the best of the TNG era of films.
In this episode of Twin Cities Trekkies, which marks the fourth part (of six) of the podcast's Second Star Trek Film Extravaganza, Wes sits down with Synthgirl to talk about the film, other Star Trek related opinions and the design aesthetics of the franchise that were likely changed by the events of this movie.
