To each their own 

We use “to each their own” when we want to say that different people have different tastes, preferences, and ways of doing things — and that’s okay.

Example:

Imagine you visit a friend’s apartment for the first time.

You walk in and notice there’s hardly anything there.

Very few decorations.

Not much furniture.

Even their wardrobe is surprisingly small.

You look around and ask:

“Did you just move in?”

They laugh.

“No! I just don’t like having too much stuff.”

You couldn’t imagine living like that. You love having books, photos, little souvenirs, and familiar things around you.

So you say:

“I like having my things around me, but to each their own.”
