Episode Details

South Carolina football fall camp is officially underway, and the early buzz surrounding Shane Beamer’s 2026 Gamecocks is overwhelmingly positive.

On today’s Locked On Gamecocks, Chris Marler breaks down the biggest intel coming out of the opening practices in Columbia — including why people inside the program are so confident about the overall talent level of this South Carolina roster.

Could this be the deepest and most talented team of the Shane Beamer era?

We dive into a loaded wide receiver room surrounding LaNorris Sellers, including Nyck Harbor, Nitro Tuggle, Jayden Gibson, DJ Black, Malik Clark, Sequel Patterson and Donovan Murph. Instead of relying on one dominant receiver, South Carolina may finally have enough weapons to attack defenses with multiple different skill sets.

The competition is heating up elsewhere, too. New running backs coach Stan Drayton is already making his presence felt with a demanding coaching style, while the Gamecocks search for their lead back. Matthew Fuller may enter camp as the favorite, but South Carolina appears to have legitimate depth and competition throughout the room.

Then there are the freshmen.

Darius Gray and J’Zavien Currence continue to generate major buzz and could make it extremely difficult for the coaching staff to keep them off the field. What makes that even more encouraging? South Carolina isn't depending on freshmen to save depleted position groups. These young players are pushing for snaps on a veteran, experienced roster.

Plus, Bruce Feldman released his annual College Football Freaks List, and South Carolina landed THREE players near the top: LaNorris Sellers, Dylan Stewart and No. 1 overall freak athlete Nyck Harbor.

And we have some HUGE Locked On Gamecocks news: Shane Beamer is coming on the show!

Is South Carolina's 2026 roster ready to make a serious jump in the SEC? Fall camp is only getting started, but there are already plenty of reasons for Gamecock fans to be excited.
