The Prodigal Sons

The Prodigal Sons

Published 3 weeks, 1 day ago
Description
This sermon teaches that both sons in the parable are "prodigal," each lost in a different way: the younger through open rebellion and self-indulgent experimentation, the older through prideful moral conformity and self-righteousness. The father models perfect love—watching, running, embracing, restoring, and gently correcting both sons—showing God's heart toward repentant sinners and stubborn rule keepers alike. By comparing the two sons to modern progressive and conservative value systems, both can become ways of trying to control God. Only repentance, humility, and a desire for the Father himself—not his blessings—bring true restoration, making clear that goodness without grace is as spiritually dangerous as rebellion without repentance.
