NAPLAN 2026 results have highlighted ongoing challenges in Australia’s education system, with more than 1.3 million students assessed across Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. The data reveals around one in three students did not meet basic literacy and numeracy benchmarks, while reading scores declined across all year levels compared with the previous year. The results have renewed calls for stronger early intervention, targeted support and better resources for students who are falling behind.
