SUNDAY - AUGUST 9, 2026 "Not What I Remember" Acts 25:1-12

Published 2 months ago
Description

False charges, backroom favors, and a governor trying to keep everyone happy, Acts 25 reads like a courtroom drama, but the real battle is over what we choose to remember. We open with a personal story that exposes how easy it is to miss what’s actually going on beneath the surface, then we step into Caesarea where Paul stands before Festus after two long years in custody. The accusations are loud, “many and serious,” and still unprovable, yet the pressure to move Paul to Jerusalem is intense for a reason that’s darker than politics.

We trace how the Jewish leaders keep their hatred alive and how that hatred points beyond Paul to the Jesus Paul proclaims. Along the way, we connect the dots to Gamaliel’s warning in Acts 5 and Jesus’ words in John 15 about why the world pushes back against his followers. Then the focus shifts to Paul’s steadiness: he refuses to be manipulated, he leans on the rights he has as a Roman citizen, and he makes the bold decision to appeal to Caesar.

What makes this message land is the bigger frame: the sovereignty of God. We revisit God’s promises in Acts 9 and Acts 23 and see how Paul’s path toward Rome is not an accident but an orchestrated mission. We also bring it home with language from Ephesians 1 and a direct invitation to trust God’s working in your life, whether that means believing in Christ for the first time or repenting of the ways you’ve stopped trusting him. If this encourages you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find it.
