Description
What if the doors that keep closing aren't setbacks, but direction?
A few years ago, our family was living in a two-bedroom apartment in Wisconsin with three young girls. Our business was growing, life looked successful from the outside and yet something didn't feel right.
We thought the next step was obvious: buy a house and settle down.
So we tried.
And tried.
After nearly 30 offers on homes, nothing was working out.
Eventually, we started asking a different question: What if we're not supposed to stay here?
Our lease was ending. We both worked remotely. Our oldest would need to change schools anyway. And suddenly we realized… we were actually free to go anywhere.
So we did something that sounded a little crazy.
We booked one-way tickets to Rome and decided to take our three daughters to Europe for a year.
In Part 1 of this special Behind the Business series, I'm sharing the story behind that decision, from the closed doors that led us there to selling almost everything we owned, preparing to homeschool, and walking into the airport with three little girls, a pile of suitcases and no idea how much the next year would change our family.
We're talking about faith, family, courage, letting go of the plan you thought you were supposed to follow, and recognizing when life might be nudging you toward something completely different.
And in Part 2 coming tomorrow, I'll take you behind the scenes of what actually happened once we landed in Europe, including homeschooling abroad, running our business while traveling, the travel disasters no one sees on Instagram, and how that year unexpectedly became one of our best years in business.
