5 Year Anniversary Episode

Season 1 Episode 107 Published 18 hours ago
Description

The Uncommon OT Series is officially celebrating five years!

What began as a space to highlight occupational therapy beyond traditional roles has grown into a community of practitioners, students, educators, entrepreneurs, and changemakers who are expanding what OT practice can look like.

In this special anniversary episode, I’m stepping behind the microphone to reflect on the podcast journey, the past year of professional growth, and the experiences that continue to shape me as an occupational therapist, educator, student, and podcast host.

I also reflect on several meaningful milestones, including:

My full-time work at Safe Landing

Receiving the OTAC Media Award

Attending the WFOT Congress in Bangkok and meeting several previous podcast guests in person

Connecting with innovative OT practitioners at the AOTA Annual Conference

Supporting SnapSlide at the conference and stepping into another uncommon OT role

Being recognized alongside members of the AOTA Innovative Entrepreneur Ad Hoc Committee

Continuing my post-professional OTD journey at the University of Montana

Preparing to deliver the Barbara A. Rider Colloquium keynote at Western Michigan University

Continuing to grow The Uncommon OT Series and the community surrounding it

Most importantly, this episode is a thank-you to every guest who has shared their story and every listener who has supported, recommended, and grown alongside the podcast.

Five years later, the mission remains the same: to broaden perspectives, create visibility for uncommon career paths, and remind occupational therapy practitioners that there are many ways to use our skills and make an impact.
