After playing several matches on Easy difficulty, the game finally decided it was time to stop treating me like a beginner and stepped things up by moving my opponents to Normal difficulty. At first, I thought Normal wouldn't be much different from Easy. After all, I had already been defeating my opponents without too much trouble. But little did I know that every step forward in this game was going to make things considerably harder. 😭
On Easy difficulty, I had already defended Bamboo Village with relative ease, but now the game gave me a completely different challenge, I had to defend a place called Falcon Gorge.
The moment I saw the enemy I was about to face, I immediately knew things had changed. This opponent looked nothing like the ones I had been fighting before. I entered the first round thinking I could probably handle him the same way I handled my previous opponents, but I was quickly proven wrong.
I barely landed a few hits before things started going downhill. The enemy was seriously overpowered, and before I could even understand what was happening, he had already taken a huge chunk of my health. His special moves were especially dangerous because they drained my health incredibly fast. I eventually lost the first round, and that defeat taught me something important I can't keep rushing into fights and expecting to win by attacking as fast as possible. It reminded me of the advice Commander Sarge gave before the fight. Sometimes you have to slow down, observe your opponent and wait for the right opportunity instead of constantly attacking. Luckily, the game had also given me a hint about a powerful strike that I could use.
So, going into Round 2, I decided to change my strategy completely. My first plan was simple: I wanted to test out that special move and see exactly how effective it was. The move required me to move sideways and then tap the punch button twice.
I tried it, and the result surprised me. My character immediately knocked the opponent to the ground. But I noticed something even more interesting if the opponent somehow remained standing after the first strike, my character would automatically follow up with another attack without me having to press anything. That follow up attack would knock the opponent down and cause even more damage.
That was when I realized this move wasn't just powerful, it could also give me something extremely important during the fight (time and space).
Whenever I noticed my opponent becoming aggressive or trying to step up his game, I would use the move to knock him down, create some distance and reset the fight. Instead of constantly attacking, I could use the move to interrupt his momentum and give myself a chance to recover and plan my next attack.
This strategy worked perfectly in Round 2, and I managed to take him down.
Now we were tied. One round each. That meant whoever won Round 3 would take the entire match. After how easily I had defeated him in Round 2, I went into the final round thinking things would probably be even easier this time. But then I remembered another important warning from Commander Sarge "If you use one move frequently, the enemy would learn to counter it." And guess what?Sun Fighter had already learned. 😭
The same move that had worked so well for me in Round 2 suddenly became much harder to use. Sun Fighter began anticipating my attacks. He knew when to attack, when to retreat and when to avoid my special move. Instead of allowing me to control the fight, he kept disrupting my rhythm.
Round 3 quickly turned into absolute hell, every time I thought I had figured him out, he would respond with another attack. The fight became much more intense than I expected, and I realized that winning one round doesn't necessarily me
