Back to EpisodesBears Camp Gets CHAOTIC! Caleb Williams CLUTCH As Braxton & Sweat Go Down
Description
The Chicago Bears just completed their most physical—and possibly most chaotic—training camp practice yet.
On today’s episode of Chicago Bears Central, Haize breaks down everything from Day 8 at Halas Hall, where the pads came back on, the intensity reached another level and multiple players left practice with injuries.
The biggest concerns involved Braxton Jones and Montez Sweat. Jones exited after battling Austin Booker during one-on-one drills, while Sweat later removed himself after slowing up during an 11-on-11 rep. The encouraging news is that both were able to leave under their own power, and the early indications in these notes suggest neither injury appears significant.
But the injuries did not stop there. Dallis Flowers suffered a non-contact right-leg injury, while Gervarrius Owens injured his left leg during special teams, creating even more pressure on an already depleted Bears secondary. 🚨
On the football side, Caleb Williams had an uneven start but delivered when Chicago needed it most.
After some early operation issues, an interception by Tyrique Stevenson and a few misses, Williams responded by leading a 65-yard touchdown drive with 1:41 remaining, finishing the two-minute period with a touchdown to Luther Burden III. That response may have been more important than a flawless practice because it showed the resilience Chicago wants from its franchise quarterback.
Haize also breaks down:
🔥 The most physical 9-on-7 work of Bears training camp
👀 Braxton Jones receiving first-team LT reps for a fourth straight practice
🧱 Kiran Amegadjie replacing Jones after the injury
💪 Jedrick Wills Jr. continuing to make his case
🛡️ Malik Muhammad earning first-team nickel reps
🚀 Kaden Davis continuing his surprise breakout camp
💥 Rookie Jordan van den Berg disrupting the offensive line
🏈 Why Chicago’s padded practices have been much more balanced between offense and defense
Plus, D’Andre Swift explains why this Bears offense is so difficult to defend. With Caleb Williams, Swift, Kyle Monangai, Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III, Colston Loveland and weapons throughout the roster, Swift says everybody has to stay sharp because the football can go anywhere—and any player can create an explosive play.
And we close with Bears fan voicemails on the left-tackle rotation, Darnell Wright earning his massive extension, ignoring national-media noise and why Chicago’s defensive line could be better than expected.
