Description
Zach Aaron is the kind of songwriter whose music can only come from a life that's been lived. Hailing from Cleveland, Texas, Aaron is a singer-songwriter whose authentic blend of Texas country, folk, and Americana is rooted in hard work, real experiences, and timeless storytelling. His weathered voice, intricate finger-picked guitar style, and deeply personal lyrics have earned him a growing reputation as one of the most compelling independent artists on the Texas music scene.
Before dedicating himself fully to music, Aaron served four years in the U.S. Air Force as a fighter aircraft mechanic. Today, when he's not writing songs or touring, he works as a horseshoer, and has competed in the Texas amateur rodeo circuit as a saddle bronc rider—experiences that give his songs a level of authenticity few artists can match. His music reflects the grit, sacrifice, and beauty of rural America, drawing inspiration from legends like Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Doc Watson, Willie Nelson, and Justin Townes Earle.
Over the years, Zach has released four studio albums while building a loyal following through relentless touring and unforgettable live performances. His songs—including fan favorites like "Arizona Cowboy," "Lubbock," "Animal of Burden," and "Southeast Texas Trinity River Bottom Blues"—capture the spirit of the American West with honesty, heart, and poetic craftsmanship. In 2026, he added the live album Live Across the Tracks to his growing catalog, further showcasing the raw emotion and musicianship that define his performances.
In this episode of the Musical Miles Podcast, Zach Aaron shares the stories behind his songs, the lessons learned from life on the road, rodeo arenas, and blue-collar work, and why authentic storytelling still matters in today's music. It's a conversation filled with memorable songs, hard-earned wisdom, and the unmistakable voice of an artist who writes exactly what he lives.
