The Australian government is investing $8 billion to prepare HMAS Stirling outside Perth for the Submarine Rotation Force West program, which will see approximately 2,300 US military personnel, contractors and family members stationed in Western Australia from December next year. The deployment forms part of the AUKUS submarine project.
