Episode Details

A true crime account of the identification of "Dawn Marie Birnbaum," a teenage Jane Doe found strangled along a Pennsylvania roadside, traced through forensic clues including a faded phone number inked on her palm and a single unmatched hair. It follows investigators Madden and Kohick as painstaking forensic dentistry, FBI lab analysis, and a grieving community's care in preparing her body for burial converge with a guidance counselor's memory to finally give the victim a name. A quietly moving portrait of small town compassion and investigative persistence in the search for a lost girl's identity.
