Inspired by his father’s and grandfather's careers in the police force in India, Raman always dreamed of wearing the uniform. After arriving in Australia as an international student and facing 11 rejections, he is now an Australian Border Force officer in Cairns, helping protect Australia’s borders while serving the country he calls home. - ਗੁਰਦਾਸਪੁਰ ਤੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਰਮਨ ਨੇ ਕਈ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਵਰਦੀ ਪਹਿਨਣ ਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਿਆ। ਅੱਜ ਉਹ ਕੂਈਨਜ਼ਲੈਂਡ ਦੇ ਕੇਨਸ (Cairns) ਏਅਰਪੋਰਟ ’ਤੇ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਬਾਰਡਰ ਫੋਰਸ ਦੇ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਿਭਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਬਾਰਡਰ ਫੋਰਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਰਤੀ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ 12 ਵਾਰ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰੇ ਲਈ ਡਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ਼ਿੰਗ, ਸਿਕਿਓਰਿਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੈੱਫ ਵਜੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਵੀ ਕੀਤਾ। ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਦਾ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲੀ ਵਰਦੀ ਪਹਿਨਣ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਪਨੇ ’ਤੇ ਅਟੁੱਟ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਰ ਨਾ ਮੰਨਣ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਸੁਣੋ ਰਮਨ ਨਾਲ SBS ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਫ਼ਰ, ਚੁਣੌਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਫ਼ਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ਼ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ।
