Washington Commanders signing Stefon Diggs is the clearest camp signal yet that the front office believes Jayden Daniels and David Blough’s offense are ready to compete now.

Diggs is a one-year veteran addition made after training camp had already started, not a long-range development play. Washington could have waited on Treylon Burks, Luke McCaffrey, Dyami Brown, Van Jefferson, Jaylin Lane or Antonio Williams, but instead added a proven receiver while those players keep developing. Practice 6 also showed Daniels expanding the red-zone offense with motion, extension and his legs, while Trey Amos, Tress Way and Diggs’ first integration become the next camp checkpoints before Miami.
