NSW driver's licence photos to be shared nationally
Published 3 days, 11 hours ago
Description
The Minns government is introducing new crime laws in New South Wales that will share driver's licence photos with a national database to combat identity fraud, which affects one in four Australians annually. The legislation will enable facial recognition verification to protect against stolen identities during data breaches. Police will also gain access to unredacted images from toll cameras to track getaway vehicles and cars using cloned number plates.
