Caleb Williams BOUNCES BACK! Braxton Jones Takes Control Of Bears LT Battle

Description

Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears offense needed a response—and their franchise quarterback delivered one of his sharpest practices of training camp.

On today’s episode of Chicago Bears Central, Haize breaks down all the major developments from Day 7 at Halas Hall, beginning with Williams completing 9-of-10 passes during seven-on-seven work following a difficult padded practice one day earlier. The Bears held a lighter, 90-minute session in shells with a heavy red-zone focus before returning to padded work.

Williams reportedly threw touchdowns to Kyle Monangai, Colston Loveland, Kaden Davis and Luther Burden III, helping Chicago’s offense regain its rhythm. Davis produced the biggest highlight with a diving, one-handed catch in the corner of the end zone—a play some observers called the best catch of Bears training camp.

The left-tackle competition may also be moving toward a conclusion. Braxton Jones worked with the first-team offense for a third consecutive practice and continues to receive the largest share of starting reps. Offensive coordinator Press Taylor praised Jones’ physicality and communication as he reestablishes himself at full health.

Haize also reacts to encouraging injury news as T.J. Edwards returned to practice after being removed from the non-football injury list. Edwards only participated in warmups while ramping up from his calf injury, but reports indicated that he was moving well.

Plus, it is time for a full Bears training-camp stock report:

📈 Austin Booker is strengthening his case to start opposite Montez Sweat

📈 Garrett Bradbury has taken command of the center position

📈 Luther Burden continues looking like a future WR1

📈 Caleb Williams looks dramatically improved from last summer

📉 Scotty Miller is being overshadowed in the receiver competition

📉 Terell Smith has failed to gain ground at CB2 or nickel

📉 Roschon Johnson is receiving little attention despite early running-back opportunities

The episode also examines how Dennis Allen plans to adjust without Coby Bryant, with rookie Dillon Thieneman and veteran Cam Lewis facing increased responsibility in Chicago’s secondary. Allen emphasized that Bryant remains part of the long-term defensive plan—but his absence creates an immediate opportunity for another player to emerge as a playmaker and leader.
