Maurice MacGowan, father of legendary Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan, has died peacefully at University Hospital Limerick after a brief illness, surrounded by loved ones. Originally from Dublin but longtime resident of County Tipperary, he leaves behind his daughter Siobhan, Shane’s widow Victoria Mary Clarke, and a wide circle of family and friends. His funeral will be held Saturday at 4 PM at Shannon Crematorium, with a live stream available for those unable to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to St Vincent De Paul — a cause close to his heart.
