It wasn't meant to be 

We use this expression when we accept that something didn’t happen the way we hoped.

Not necessarily because someone made a mistake.

Not because we didn’t try hard enough.

Example:

Imagine you find the perfect apartment.

It’s bright, close to work, and you can already picture yourself living there.

You submit your application.

The next day, you find out someone else got it.

You’re disappointed and keep thinking,

“That was the perfect place.”

A few weeks later, you find another apartment.

It’s in a quieter neighborhood, has a beautiful balcony, and the rent is actually lower.

Looking back:

“At the time, I was so disappointed. But I guess it just wasn’t meant to be.”
