Description
Part 1:
We talk with Jeff Mangan, founder of the Transparent Election Initiative.
We discuss the Montana Plan. This plan gives states the option o avoiding the problems caused by the Citizens United ruling. States have the right to declare the rights of corporations that do business within their borders. This means that they can eliminate the ability to spend money on political activities. This avoids the 'speech' issue cited in Citizens United. Hawaii has already implemented this strategy.
Part 2:
We talk with Dr. Ashwini Sehgal, a nephrologist and clinical researcher.
We discuss the use of gas stoves, and how the gases emitted by the use of gas stoves affect people with asthma. Dr. Sehgal's team conducted research and found that the elimination of gas stoves had a positive effect for people who have asthma. Unfortunately, the Trump administration cut the study short, though the results indicate that eliminating gas stove use would have a beneficial effect. About 10% of the population in the US has asthma.
