Wednesday, August 5th: Hebrews gives its first urgent warning: pay careful attention to the Gospel so that you do not drift away. Spiritual drifting is rarely sudden or dramatic; it happens quietly when prayer, Scripture, worship, and obedience are gradually neglected. Because salvation was announced by Jesus, confirmed by eyewitnesses, and authenticated by God, it is far too great to ignore. The answer to drifting is to anchor our lives firmly to Christ.
