Fatal head-on crash in Sydney's southwest

Description
A driver has died after crossing to the wrong side of Appin Road in Sydney's southwest and colliding head-on with a cement truck. Two police cars were travelling about 50 metres behind the vehicle with lights and sirens activated, responding to an unrelated incident, when the fatal crash occurred. NSW Police have declared a critical incident and are investigating why the vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic, with Assistant Commissioner Brett McFadden confirming the car was not subject to any police pursuit or investigation.
