Description

A part of a SpaceX rocket is set to crash into the surface of the moon, with experts predicting it'll trigger an explosive impact equivalent to three tons of TNT.

The upper stage of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, launched in January 2025 as part of a joint US and Japanese lunar lander mission is set to land near the moon's Einstein Crater, according to NASA's CNEOS.

US correspondent Dan Mitchinson explains what to expect, and what kind of telescope technology is needed to get a look at the collision.
