A slim floorstander that promises proper scale in a small living room is the kind of product claim we all want to test. Today’s Inside CI News Brief focuses on Q Acoustics’ new 3040C, a space-friendly addition to the 3000C series designed for listeners who want weight, clarity, and a confident soundstage without the footprint of a traditional floorstanding loudspeaker.

We walk through what Q Acoustics says makes the 3040C different, starting with its twin C3 continuous curved cone mid-bass drivers. The idea is to blend punch with control so bass stays authoritative while vocals and acoustic instruments keep their shape as levels rise. On the high end, the tweeter takes cues from the Concept Series and is both hermetically sealed and mechanically isolated from the baffle, a practical approach to reducing cabinet pressure effects and vibration for smoother treble and more stable imaging.

Cabinet control gets equal attention, with P2P bracing used to stabilise vibration-prone areas for tighter focus and a wider usable soundstage. To address standing waves in a compact floorstanding cabinet, Q Acoustics uses HPE tubes to equalise internal pressure and help maintain a clean frequency response. We also cover the industrial design choices, from the curved profile and minimalist “no visible fixings” look to the four finishes: satin black, satin white, pin oak, and claro walnut, plus pricing starting at €599 and US availability beginning in October.
