Description
Carl Rushworth is a Coventry City player. The club confirmed yesterday that the goalkeeper has signed permanently from Brighton and Hove Albion for an undisclosed fee, on what the club call a long term contract. Rushworth won the Championship Golden Glove on loan at Coventry last season, with 17 clean sheets across all 46 league games of the title campaign, and said he can finally relax knowing it is done. Frank Lampard called him a top professional and a great character who had a huge impact on promotion. Also from the club: a behind closed doors friendly at The Hawthorns finished West Bromwich Albion 1 Coventry City 1, Loum Tchaouna putting Coventry ahead on 26 minutes and Jimmy-Jay Morgan levelling for Albion on 41, with Brandon Thomas-Asante hitting the post late on. And on Gus Hamer, Danny Hall of the Sheffield Star reports that Sheffield United expect Coventry to return with an improved bid after rejecting the opening offer, and are braced for a further approach perhaps this week. Club items aired as fact, press reported as press.
